Upcoming Parent Education Workshops

Description:
Encouraging Language Development in Early Childhood Settings
Presented by: Ellen Nightengale, MA CCC-SLP This course addresses how to use play and daily routines to create enriched, interactive language-learning environments for ALL children including children with Special Needs, Language delays, and Second Language Learners.

2 weeks BEFORE the workshop, participants will receive a "Pre-Workshop Assignment" via email. ALL participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Description:
In this two-hour program, parents and educators will learn to approach challenging behavior in new ways. Through the "A-B-C's of Behavior" they will learn how to identify the conditions under which behavior occurs; how to discern the communicative intent of behavior; how to understand the purpose the behavior serves for the student; how to identify effective responses; and, how to teach the student more appropriate alternatives.

First Friday - A Monthly Support Group for Families of Children with Special Needs

We are a caring group of mothers and fathers who come together to discuss our viewpoints on raising children with special needs.Families are welcome to attend any or all of the meetings. You don't have to face your challenges alone.

Facilitator: Diane Hennessey, LCSW, Social Worker and Supervisor. Families are welcome to call Diane if they have questions about resources or would like to meet with her individually. Phone (908) 518-0021 or e-mail dhennessey@arckohlerschool.org.

We meet the first Friday of the Month during the school year, at 10:00 am at the Arc Kohler School.
